Courtney Krampf

Name: Courtney Krampf

Title: Level 4-A Stylist

Hometown: Los Angeles, California and Brentwood, TN

Education: New Directions Hair Academy class of 2003, Redken Certified Hair Colorist Graduate 2010, and I have studied cutting, coloring, and styling under some of the best Redken Educators at the Redken Exchange in New York City Like Sam Villa, Leah Freeman, Chris Baran, George Garcia, Daniel Dhoud, and many others.

What inspired me to pursue a career in beauty: I have always been an artist and was interested in working with clay and acrylics, and when I was in high school I was given opportunities to cut and color my friends’ hair. It always came out well, and I realized that doing hair gave me the same feelings as painting and sculpting. Hair quickly then became my favorite medium to work with–and still is! I love making color and texture work together.

Awards or Recognition: Redken Certified Hair Colorist 2010, Redken Master Specialist 2005, Nashville Scene Best of Nashville “Best Person to Get a Hip Haircut From” 2004, and have styled hair for photo and video shoots with bands like The Features, Pink Spiders, and Garrison Starr

Celebrity style I admire:  Christina Hendricks, Chrissie Hynde, Zooey Deschanel

Little more about me: I am proud to say that Salon Ya Ya is the only salon I have ever worked at in Nashville, beginning in June 2002. I love doing hair because it allows me to combine science and art in different ways, therefore I am always on my toes! I also enjoy teaching others, from budding stylists to the clients in my chair, and I sometimes teach at the Redken Salon Professional Academy in Nashville.  My other passions include music, traveling, and crafting. It is my dream to one day become a Redken Artist.

MPUANNUM

"Five tufts" (of hair) A symbol of priestly office, loyalty and adroitness "This symbol is said to be the hairstyle of joy. It is the traditional hairstyle of the priestesses. ... The design of the adinkra symbol mpuannum resembles the way the priestesses' hair was tied. ... It also represents the devotion and faithfulness one displays when doing a task required of one. In addition, mpuannum means loyalty or the embodiment of lofty duty to a desired goal." - W. Bruce Willis, The Adinkra Dictionary
